The Fraternal Order of Police Associates (F.O.P.A.) is a civilian affiliate of the Fraternal Order of Police (F.O.P). Our local lodge is known as The Fraternal Order of Police Associates of Marion County and is affiliated with Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #145 here in Ocala. While the Fraternal Order of Police membership is restricted to active duty and retired law enforcement officers, the Fraternal Order of Police Associates is open to civilians.
Who are the F.O.P.A.
members?
Our members are the friends and families of law enforcement Officers, responsible and respectable civilian law enforcement employees, businessmen, professional people and citizens from all walks of life. People, who are willing to devote a portion of their time and efforts toward assisting the various law enforcement agencies of our communities, states and nation.
What are the goals of
the F.O.P.A.?
The F.O.P.A. is an organization formed for the purpose of increasing our understanding of the rights, duties and problems of law enforcement officers; of fostering public respect for them; of strengthening our comradeship with them; of bettering the conditions under which they serve society; of promoting their interests and welfare in every conceivable way; to eradicate the public apathy prevalent throughout our country and to assist our law enforcement officers at all levels and in any way possible.
In March of 2009 several spouses and family members wanted to find a way to become more involved and support their loved ones who were members of the F.O.P. Lodge #145. We came together to start the Fraternal Order of Police Associates of Marion County. Since that time our membership has grown to include local business owners and citizens who share our respect for those in law enforcement.
Our interests revolve around the men and women who have dedicated their lives to the protection of our, the members of F.O.P. Lodge #145. We work in assisting them with fundraisers and join them in their social functions. We provide assistance and support to members in need. The F.O.P.A. of Marion County presents scholarships to dependents of members of the F.O.P.
